Creating our seat and building our own table.
A board of directors, or board, is a group of individuals, often elected, who represent shareholders or an organization/business. A board’s mandate is to establish policy for organization oversight and management and guide equitable decision making.
Problem is, many boards are not reflective of the organization and/or the community it serves. People of color and more specifically, Black people, are often not present on boards.
YBI strives to bridge that gap, giving Black leaders in the Omaha metro the tools needed to join and maintain presence on boards - guiding the decisions for our community.
Check the happenings page for the next session.
Are you an organization wanting to racially diversify your board? Click the link below to submit open board roles to be matched with our Board Training Program Participants.
YBI will help facilitate the match based on skills and needs of both parties, and the rest is up to you!
